We will be playing by the rules set forth by USA Hockey and the North Dakota Amateur Hockey Association which include the rules set below:
National anthem will be played at the start of the first game each day.
Warm ups - will start 7 minutes prior to your scheduled game time when possible. We have 2 hour ice blocks for each game. Grafton Youth Hockey Association (GYHA) will provide warm up pucks for all games. Please be prompt so we can stay on schedule.
Period Length – All games will consist of three 15 minute, stop time periods. When teams remain on the ice between periods there will be a 2 minute break. The Ice will be resurfaced every two periods. When we resurface the ice between periods 12 minutes will be placed on the clock and teams will be back on the ice with one minute remaining. We want the ice to be able to set up.
Running Time 3rd Period - During the course of tournament play, if one of the teams involved has a lead of six (6) goals or greater over its opponent during the 3rd period of the game the game officials, either the referees or the tournament manager, must invoke a running/non-stop clock. The clock will be stopped only for penalties or injury to a player. If during the period the goal spread becomes less than 4 goals; the non-stop clock will be resumed.
Tie Tournament Games – If the game is tied at the end of regulation and the ice sheet has been played on for only one 1 period, the following procedures will take place.
1. 5-Minute Rest Period
2. Team will not change ends
3. A 10 Minute period will be played. Game will be terminated upon a goal being scored.
4. If no goal is scored during the 10 minute period, the ice shall be resurfaced and the
teams will not change ends.
5. Teams will repeat 10 Minute Periods until the tie is broken. Ice will be resurfaced every two periods and teams will not change ends.
