In a game that has little meaning for the Spoilers, but could help decide the EDC Crown, the Fargo Davies Eagles got a late goal to take the season series against the Spoilers, in a fast-paced game at the CC.
Davies got on the board first in the 2nd, on a short-handed effort 4:53 into the period.
The Eagles looked to build off of a 5 minute major penalty towards the end of the 2nd, but the Spoiler kill was up to the task for the final few minutes, keeping it 1-0 heading to the third.
With over 2 minutes remaining on the major, Spoilers took another penalty, to put Davies on the 5 on 3. This time, Davies was able to cash in, and build their lead to 2-0.
However, 4 minutes later, the Spoilers would answer on a PP Goal by Zach "Chopper" Peterson, who redirected a point shot from Cody Kingsbury to cut the lead to 2-1. Ben Thompson also assisted. Chopper would score again, four minutes later, after linemates Peter Hills and Cole Rehovsky did some dirty work behind the goal line and fed a waiting Chopper out front.
However, with 1:43 remaining in the game, a failed breakout, led to a game winner that was tipped by Zach Nelson for the game winner. Davies would tack on an Empty Netter.
Up next, is a battle with rival GFRR. GFRR can win the EDC outright with a win.
In other news, it is official that the Spoilers will be hosting Fargo South/Shanley on Tuesday, Feb. 12th, in the first round of the EDC Tournament held at the higher seeds home arena. South knocked off the Spoilers in a shootout in their last meeting...
